I am NOT a loafer!

First post of the new year. Been procrastinating much. Anyway, i am just here to rant.

Being a self employed with flexible working hours, I have my fair share of going back to the office, but since i do not have a fix table in the office yet, i am currently working from home.

Honestly, I am never the type of person with good discipline. It actually took me quite a while to get into the groove of working from home productively. If you work at home you know how hard it is to maintain focus and get real work done. There are just too many wonderful things to pull my attention, whether it's the laundry that needs to be done, the new dress that has just launched on a blog shop that i have to check out, or simply the very inviting bed that is calling me for naps.

All these while when working from home, i get to know myself more. Like i am most productive between the timing of 1pm to 7pm. I have colorful post-it notes all over the laptop and table lamp to remind me of appointments and tasks, and a mini bar of chocolate actually helps to brighten up my afternoon and keep me going if i am having a bad day. If i really cannot focus at home i would actually bring out all my work and pop by the nearest cafe.

I am not perfect yet but i am constantly learning.

I am aware that many of my friends think that i am a slacker as i get to sleep until 10:30am most of the days. Not needing to join the peak hours. Have overdose of coffee and get down to work in my comfy tee shirt and shorts and taking breaks as and when i like. Or work for that fraction of hour and spend the rest of the day watching dramas and sleeping.

If i am doing any of the above mentioned, i am doing it at my own expense. Salaried worker is guaranteed a paycheck every month even if one does not work as hard as one could. Self employed working from home has much more pressure and motivation because our paycheck is not guaranteed. If we do not perform, the worse that can happen, we will not get paid. It's just that simple.

What i would like to say is, as a self-employed, yes, i stay at home all day when i do not have appointments, but i work as hard, if not harder, than every one of those salaried workers. I am not a loafer.
